Our research addresses Federal priorities to conserve Arctic birds and ecosystems, and is designed to provide fundamental insights into the underlying processes of Arctic seabird ecology. These include foraging, reproduction, migration, winter distribution, predator-prey relationships, and how seabirds are affected by changing climate and emerging diseases in the north. In addition, several projects focus on the harvest of some marine bird species by Indigenous Peoples. These studies have been undertaken because of the importance of ensuring sustainable levels of harvest, as well as incorporating Indigenous priorities into conservation and management strategies in northern Canada and Greenland. Our work is collaborative and multidisciplinary in nature; linking academia, government, industry, and Indigenous organizations.
